PHOTOGRAPHY WITH SOCIAL IMPACT AWARD /
DEADLINE 30 JULY 2026

The aim of this call for submissions is to select the photographic projects that will be candidates for the “Photography with Social Impact” Award. These projects must involve people and communities in processes related to the social, environmental and cultural challenges of our time, actively incorporating them at some stage of the creative process.

We will specially value projects related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that use photography as a tool to transform, mediate, and reflect in the face of realities such as exclusion, stigma, inequality, depopulation, pollution, or the connection between the land, the community and the environment.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Visual artists and creators from anywhere around the world who are at least 18 years old. Participation can be individual or collective.

WHAT ARE THE KEY DATES?

– Closing of call for submissions: July 10, 2026

– Announcement of selected projects: July 24, 2026

– Stay in Granada: from October 2 to Sunday 4, 2026 (Friday-Sunday)

– Award ceremony: Saturday, October 3

– Guided tour of the exhibition installations: Friday, October 2

WHAT DO I NEED TO SUBMIT?

To enter, you must submit:

1. A project dossier in PDF format, containing:

– A visual example of the project

– Biography  of the author or group (max. 1000 characters, including spaces)

– Conceptual description of the project (max. 1500 characters, including spaces)

– Social justification: explanation of the project’s relation with any of the Sustainable Development Goals, the implication of the community or people linked to the project and its social impact (max. 1500 characters, including spaces)

– Statement of authorship: guaranteeing the originality of the work and the ownership of all the rights

 

2. Graphic material for promotion:

Aside from the dossier, the candidates also need to send a selection of the project’s images so that they may be used in the communication and promotion of the festival.

– A minimum of 10 and maximum of 16 photographs

– In .jpg format, sized 2000 pixels on the longest side

– The images must be sent as individual files (not inserted in the PDF)

 

Both the DOSSIER and the GRAPHIC MATERIAL must be submitted in a single ZIP file (max. 20 Mb) via the form available on the festival website at the end of this page.

WHAT WILL BE JUDGED?

A jury made up of professionals of the artistic, social and cultural fields will select the candidates, taking into account:

– The artistic quality and the conceptual soundness of the work

– Its relevance to the purpose of the award

– The level of community implication in the project

– The social impact of the project

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR PROJECT IS SELECTED?

Conditions regarding the work with the selected project:

 

BEFORE THE FESTIVAL

– We will work with you to adapt the project to the festival’s expositive formats, as well as for its presentation at the “Photography with Social Impact” Award ceremony and at one of the roundtables on the SDGs.

– We will hold an interview with the author, which will be published in the editorial and mediation contents of the festival.

 

DURING THE FESTIVAL

– The selected projects will be shown in an exhibition installation in Granada’s public space, with all setup and promotion costs covered.

– The author(s) of the selected projects will be required to be in Granada during the afternoon of Friday, October 2, and the entirety of Saturday, October 3.

– Participation in the guided tour of the exhibition installations on Friday, October 2.

– Participation in one of the roundtables on the SDGs (October 3 or 4).

– Participation in the award ceremony on Saturday, October 3.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR PROJECT IS NOT SELECTED?

The organisation reserves the right to invite the authors of the not selected projects to take part in other activities within the festival.

WHAT FEES AND BENEFITS WILL I RECEIVE?

– You will be featured on the festival’s promotional channels and associated media

– Production, setup and promotion of the exhibition in the public space, with all costs covered

– Participation in the award ceremony of the “Photography with Social Impact” Award

– Covered transportation from October 2 to 4 (Friday to Sunday)

– Accommodation expenses covered by the organisation

– A €150 fee for your participation and the exhibition of your work

– €100 fee for image rights

– €150 fee for conducting the guided tour of the exhibition installation

– €150 fee for your participation in one of the roundtables on the SDGs

WHAT ABOUT THE PRIZE?

One of the selected projects will be awarded the “Photography with Social Impact Award”, which includes:

– An award in recognition of the artistic quality of their project and their contribution to social reflection through contemporary photography

– An individual exhibition at La Ampliadora Social Photography Center, produced as part of the International Photography and Social Impact Programme promoted by Pa-ta-ta Festival and La Ampliadora

– An invitation for the author to present their work through mediation activities linked to the exhibition, with travel and accommodation expenses covered by the organisation

– Professional fees associated to the exhibition, the participation in public activities and mediation activities linked to the program

 

The final decision will be made jointly by the public and the professional jury (50% + 50%). The winner will be announced during the award ceremony on Saturday, October 3.

HOW DO WE HANDLE RIGHTS?

Authors retain full rights to their work. They will grant a licence to Pa-ta-ta Festival and the Social Centre of Photography La Ampliadora for exhibition and distribution rights. The festival may use images of the project for promotional purposes, always crediting the author, in this and future editions.

WHAT DOES PARTICIPATION ENTAIL?

Participation entails the full acceptance of these rules. Any unforeseen issue will be resolved by the organisation.
