THE CHALLENGE
Participatory photography to build the territories’ stories
El Reto (The Challenge) is a participatory photography initiative promoted by Pa-ta-ta Festival that invites people to build collective stories on the places they inhabit and explore their identities, and the challenges important to each community.
Each edition takes place in different municipalities of Granada, which, together with the festival’s mediation team, work to identify which challenges, worries, values or identity-defining elements they want to explore and share. Thus, photography becomes a tool for sparking conversations, strengthening the ties with the town and building new ways of understanding reality by those who live in it everyday.
Through a process of collaborative creation, each town will develop a collective photographic project. The resultant works will be integrated into the festival’s programme, creating a space for photography, territory and citizens to meet.
El Reto proposes a chance to build, in collaboration with those who inhabit each place, new ways to understand, tell and project our town’s present.
