If you have a published photobook or a finished dummy that you would like to share with new audiences, take part in a collective exhibition and a digital library of works committed to our time, this open call is for you.
WHAT IS FOTOLIBROS POR EL CAMBIO?
Fotolibros por el Cambio (Photobooks for Change) is an event promoted by Pa-ta-ta Festival with the aim of showcasing photobooks and dummies that, from different approaches, tackle social, environmental, cultural and community issues linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The selected works will take part in a collective exhibition during Pa-ta-ta Festival 2026 and become part of a permanent digital gallery on the festival’s web.
WHO CAN TAKE PART?
Photographers or groups from any nationality aged above 18.
WHAT KIND OF WORKS CAN BE SUBMITTED?
Published photobooks or finished dummies of any topic or approach, as long as they are in line with social, environmental, cultural or community issues linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.
WHAT ARE THE KEY DATES?
– Sign-up deadline: August 10, 2026
– Announcement of the selected works: August 17, 2026
– Pa-ta-ta Festival 2026: from September 28 to October 4 2026
– Meeting and public presentation of the photobooks: Saturday October 3, 2026
WHAT WILL BE EVALUATED?
The festival’s board will select which works become part of the programme by the following criteria:
– Photographic and editorial quality
– Conceptual soundness of the proposal
– Relevance to the purpose of the call for applications
– Originality and variety of approaches
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY WORK GETS SELECTED?
The selected works will take part in the collective exhibition Fotolibros por el Cambio, which will take place during the festival.
They will also become part of Pa-ta-ta Festival’s permanent digital library; a space designed to promote the dissemination, circulation and reach of works to new audiences.
Furthermore, any author who wishes to do so can present their work at an event open to the festival’s attendees. Here, they can share the processes and stories behind each project. Participation in this event is optional.
WHAT DOES PARTICIPATION ENTAIL?
– Participation in the collective exhibition Fotolibros por el Cambio
– Inclusion in the permanent digital library on the festival’s web
– Dissemination through the festival’s communication channels
– Purchase by the festival of the copy to be displayed at the exhibition
– Covering of the postage costs for the photobook or mock-up
– Accommodation will be provided by the festival for authors who decide to attend the launch event
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
Anyone interested in participating must submit:
1. Publication’s dossier in PDF format, which must include:
– The author or group’s biography and contact details
– A brief description of the project
– Images of both the outside and the inside of your photobook or dummy
– Technical information of the work
– Link(s) to your webpage and/or social media
– The publication’s sale price
2. Preview PDF of the publication
A complete PDF of the photobook or dummy showing the sequence and pagination of the publication, to facilitate its assessment by the festival organisers.
Both the DOSSIER and the PREVIEW PDF must be submitted in a single ZIP file (maximum 20Mb) via the form provided on the festival website, which can be found at the bottom of this page.
HOW DO WE HANDLE RIGHTS?
Authors retain full rights to their work. They will grant a licence to Pa-ta-ta Festival and the Social Centre of Photography La Ampliadora for exhibition and distribution rights. The festival may use images of the project for promotional purposes, always crediting the author, in this and future editions.
WHAT DOES PARTICIPATION INVOLVE?
Entry into this competition implies full acceptance of these terms and conditions. Any matters not covered herein will be resolved by the organisers.
