CHALLENGE
CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN GRANADA’S TOWNS
El Reto (The Challenge) is a participatory photography initiative promoted by Pa-ta-ta Festival that invites the people from Granada’s towns to explore, through photography, those challenges, values, worries or identitary elements that shape their communities.
Through a process of collaborative creation, each town will develop a collective photographic project, using images as a tool to foster dialogue, strengthen ties with the local area and share new perspectives on the place they inhabit.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Anyone who lives, works or actively participates in the community and social life of any of the participating towns of the province of Granada. This year’s participants are: Almuñécar, Bubión, Capileira, Castril, Lanjarón, Monachil, Nigüelas, Pampaneira and Salobreña.
Regardless of age or previous experience in photography; all residents, associations, educative centres, collectives, social entities and interested people are welcome to participate.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
During the months previous to the festival, the participants will develop, with the help of the festival’s mediation team, a collective photographic proposal focused on the challenges, values or aspects of the local identity considered of relevance by each community.
WHAT ARE THE KEY DATES?
– Sign-up deadline: July 30, 2026.
– Activities: until September 13, 2026.
– Pa-ta-ta Festival 2026: from 28 September to 4 October 2026
During the festival, the proposals developed by the different towns will be integrated into the programmed exhibitions and activities.
