“PHOTOGRAPHY WITH SOCIAL IMPACT” AWARD 2025 /
DEADLINE AUG 4, 2025.

This call aims to select photographic projects for the “Photography with Social Impact” Award. These projects must place people or the community at the center of some of their creative phases, making them protagonists. Preference will be given to proposals that address social challenges and issues linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and that use photography as a tool for mediation or social transformation in response to exclusion, stigma, inequality, depopulation or pollution.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Visual artists and creators of any nationality may apply, either individually or as part of a collective, provided they are over 18 years of age.

WHAT ARE THE KEY DATES?

– Call opens: July 5th 2025

– Call closes: July 26th

– Announcement of selected projects: August 8th 2025

– Stay in Granada: From October 9th to 11th 2025

– Awards ceremony and gala: October 9th

– Guided tour of the exhibition interventions: October 10th 

WHAT NEEDS TO BE SUBMITTED?

Interested participants must submit:

– A PDF DOCUMENT (max 1Mb) including:

– Biography of the author, group or collective (max. 1000 characters including spaces)

– Brief conceptual description of the project (max. 1000 characters including spaces)

– Social justification: connection to one or more Sustainable Development Goals, explanation of the project’s level of community involvement and social impact (max. 1500 characters including spaces)

– Authorship declaration stating that the work is original and the author holds all rights over it

– A VISUAL SAMPLE: up to 13 photographs from the project (2000 pixels on the longest side, compressed in JPG)

Both the DOCUMENT and VISUAL SAMPLE must be submitted in a single ZIP file (max 20Mb) through the form available on the festival’s website (at the bottom of the page).

WHAT IS EVALUATED?

A jury composed of professionals from the artistic, social and cultural fields will evaluate the projects based on:

– The artistic and conceptual quality of the project

– Relevance to the proposed themes

– Community involvement in the process

– Social impact

IF YOUR PROJECT IS SELECTED

BEFORE THE FESTIVAL:
– Each project will be paired with a district of Granada. The festival team will conduct outreach and mediation with residents of the matched district.
– The selected author or collective will take part in an online session (in September 2025) to present the project and meet representatives from the district they’re assigned to.

DURING THE FESTIVAL:
– A public art intervention will be carried out in the streets of Granada, with all production, installation, and publicity costs covered by the festival. The selected project will be shown, along with the outcome of the mediation work carried out in the district.
– The presence of the authors in Granada is required from Thursday, October 9th to Saturday, October 11th, 2025.
– Participation in the awards gala on October 9th
– Participation in the guided tour of the exhibitions on October 10th

IF YOUR PROJECT IS NOT SELECTED

The organization reserves the right to invite authors of submitted but unselected projects to participate in other festival-related activities.

FEES AND COMPENSATION

– Inclusion in the festival’s promotion channels and media coverage
– Creation of a public art intervention (with production, installation, and promotional costs covered by the festival)
– Participation in the gala and Photography with Social Impact Award ceremony
Travel, accommodation, and daily expenses from October 9th to 11th covered by the festival
100€ fee for image rights
150€ fee for participation in the online session with district representatives
150€ fee for conducting the guided tour of your public intervention

AND THE AWARD?

One of the selected projects will receive the “Photography with Social Impact” Award, with a prize of 2,000€ in recognition of its social and photographic contribution.
The decision will be made based on a joint evaluation by the public and the professional jury (50% + 50%).
The winner will be announced during the gala on Thursday, October 9th.

HOW DO WE HANDLE RIGHTS?

The authors will retain full rights to their work.
Pa-ta-ta Festival is granted permission to exhibit and disseminate the work. The organization may use images from the project for promotional purposes, always crediting the authorship, both in this edition and in future editions.

WHAT DOES PARTICIPATION ENTAIL?

Participation in this call implies full acceptance of these terms.
Any unforeseen circumstances will be resolved by the organization.
